#Takanakuy or 'when the blood is boiling' in the #Quechua dialect, is an annual #festival that gives people the chance to solve personal differences, the old fashioned way, in front of all the community.

The tradition, which takes place every #Christmas day, is about family honor and is seen as a way to deal with problems before the #NewYear and to also prevent fights during the year.

Fighters are not allowed to hit their opponents while they’re down and all fights begin and end with a hug.

#TTD-Peru : Don't miss out on a visit to #Huacachina in the #Ica Region.

Called the #oasis of America, Huacachina is built around a small natural #lake in the #desert with #sand #dunes that stretch several hundred feet high.

Located about 5 hours south of #Lima , it's a great place for #sandboarding and taking white-knuckle #buggy rides on sand dunes.

The food! From coastal seafood, including citric refreshing ceviche to hot peppers from the jungle to Papas a la Huancaina (potatoes with a spicy cheese sauce) from the Andes, there is something for every palate. See http://www.artperucuisine.com/index.html
